SAM-e is a substance that naturally occurs in the human body. Due to the fact that it is one of the most important donors of methyl groups, it is responsible for most biochemical processes. Moreover, it plays a key role in the functioning of the central nervous system, as it regulates the functioning of dopamine, serotonin and acetylcholine metabolism. As a result, it can be classified as a neuromodulator.
