Asparagus (Shatavari) has had a rich and varied history of use for centuries. Shatavari tubers were once candied and eaten as sweets. Nursing mothers ate Shatavari as it supported normal production of breast milk. In some cultures, people drink fresh root juice mixed with honey. It is also used topically in medicinal oils for its soothing and cooling properties.
