Saffron is obtained from the orange-red pistils of the Crocus Sativus flower (crocus species). Each flower contains only 3 pieces of the precious stigmas, which are carefully dried after harvesting. Harvesting is done entirely by hand. Only the outermost parts of the grain of the pistils are used for Sargol quality saffron. These are characterized by their content of aromas and essential oils. saffron by dr. Jacob's comes from the climatically best growing areas in Iran.
