Glycine is one of the 20 basic amino acids that are the building blocks of proteins in living organisms.

It is the simplest amino acid because it has the smallest molecular weight of all amino acids. Its chemical structure contains only one carbon atom (C), two hydrogen atoms (H), one amine link (NH2) and one carboxyl link (COOH).

Glycine is the basic building block of proteins in the human body.

In the brain, it acts as a neurotransmitter that transmits signals between nerve cells. It is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, which means it inhibits neuronal activity, reducing neural excitation. Glycine is a component of proteins and peptides that are necessary for building and repairing tissues in the body.
