Dietary Supplement - Bene Vobis® Milk Thistle is a high-quality dietary supplement in drops intended for people who want to supplement their diet with milk thistle seed extract standardized to the content of silymarin and silybin.

The extract was dissolved in vegetable glycerol (pharmaceutical grade) produced from rapeseed and sunflower seeds originating exclusively from controlled crops in the European Union. Application in this form affects the effective and rapid absorption of active ingredients by the oral mucosa.

Milk thistle (Milk Thistle) belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae). The plant grows up to 150 cm in height and is characterized by purple flowers and thorny leaves. Milk thistle has been used as a medicinal plant since ancient times, and gained importance and popularity in the 19th century, especially thanks to the discovery of its effect on the liver.

The ingredients of milk thistle are mainly fats with a high content of linoleic acid (20-30%), protein (25-30%), silymarin (1.5-3%), flavonoids, phytosterols and mucus. The power of milk thistle lies in its ingredients: the plant contains, on the one hand, the valuable active substance silymarin, and on the other hand, high-fat oils and vegetable proteins. The complex of active substances - silymarin consists of the flavanolignans silybin (or silibinin), silycristin, silidianin, isosilybin and the flavanol taxifolin.

Silymarin is found mainly in the black-brown milk thistle seeds. Our extract has been standardized to up to 80% silymarin and min. 25% pure silybin (content tested with an HPLC liquid chromatograph). Silybin is a compound with the highest biological activity[I][II]

Weighing approximately 1.4-1.8 kg, the liver is the central metabolic organ of humans and the largest gland in our body. The size of the organ indicates the variety of tasks performed by the liver. Almost all nutrients that are absorbed through the digestive tract first reach the liver through the portal vein and are used by it. In addition, the liver also takes care of the formation of bile, the production of necessary proteins and antibodies, and the storage of vitamins, glucose, fat and other metabolic products.

At the same time, the liver is also the detoxification center of our body. Harmful substances are broken down by the liver or converted into substances that can be easily excreted in the urine. For example, the liver is responsible for detoxifying ammonia: ammonia is produced when amino acids are broken down by the body. The liver converts ammonia into urea, which is then excreted in the urine.

Silymarin is a protective ingredient (hepatoprotector) and a regenator that stabilizes phospholipids of the liver cell membrane, thanks to which toxins cannot penetrate into hepatocytes (liver cells). The liver-protective properties result from the stabilization of the liver cell membrane, free radical scavenging/antioxidant effects and accelerated regeneration of liver cells.
