Calcium butyrate is less soluble in aqueous solutions than sodium butyrate, which, combined with the patented technology of encapsulation and suspension in a special matrix, makes its release longer in the intestinal passage and more controlled (it reaches the right place in the digestive system).

Butyric acid is one of the short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) physiologically produced in the intestines in the process of fiber fermentation; research on the occurrence and role of SCFA in the digestive system has been ongoing for over 40 years.

The largest share (~80%) of SCFA present in the human digestive system is made up of three types of acids: acetic, propionic and butyric, occurring in fairly constant proportions: 60:25:15.

The proportion of butyric acid is the smallest, but it constitutes the main energy source for colonocytes (large intestine epithelial cells) and stimulates their growth and differentiation. Acetate and propionate are metabolized subsequently, after butyrate has been utilized.

The unique, patented microPEARLS™ production technology provides a prolonged and controlled release of butyric acid in the gastrointestinal tract. Compared to uncoated calcium butyrate, Butishield is significantly more resistant to degradation in the lower pH of the initial gastrointestinal tract, allowing more of it to reach the large intestine, where it is most needed.

Resistant starch is a specially processed form of starch that is not digested in the upper digestive tract, allowing it to reach the large intestine, providing health benefits. Its production involves modifying the starch's structure, which gives it unique properties, such as greater resistance to digestion and the ability to ferment in the intestines. Additionally, it supports the growth of beneficial gut bacteria such as L. plantarum, L. gasseri, L. helveticus, and A. muciniphila, and has a low glycemic index.

Resistant starch increases the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), including propionate, butyrate, and acetate, which are crucial for gut health.

Ingredients:  calcium salt of butyric acid (calcium butyrate), matrix: certified fully hydrogenated palm oil without trans isomers, rapeseed lecithin, thickener: corn starch, bulking agent: corn fiber (resistant starch), microcrystalline cellulose.

The recommended daily dose required to achieve the product's beneficial effects is  1 tablet twice daily (morning and evening). It is recommended to use the product for at least 3 months. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. This product should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet. A balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are recommended.
