Cordyceps (Chinese cordyceps)  is one of the most valuable mushrooms in Chinese medicine . We recommend this product due to the ideal ratio of polysaccharides, cordycepin, D-mannitol and other bioactive substances to obtain the best possible results. In Chinese Medicine, Cordyceps is used to support vitality, physical performance, endurance and libido support.

Our  Cordyceps sinensis  is grown in controlled cultivation. The basis of the medium is cane sugar, crushed yellow beans, glucose and peptones for growing Cordyceps mycelium. Part of the mushroom used is  liquid culture mycelium .

Tested in the German Agrolab.

Action according to Traditional Chinese Medicine

  • complement Shen Yang (Yang Nerek)
  • strengthens Fei Yin (Lung Yin)
  • transforms Tan (Mucus)
  • calms Shen (spirit)
  • supports Wei Qi (defensive qi)

Characteristics from the point of view of Traditional Chinese Medicine

  • temperature – warm
  • taste – sweet
  • tropism – Fei (lungs), Shen (kidneys)

Perfect composition, maximum strength and effect

Cordyceps (Chinese cordyceps sinensis) was one of  the most valuable mushrooms  used to harmonize the soul and body in ancient China and Tibet. This parasitic fungus is a rich  source of beta-glucans, minerals, trace elements and vitamins .

Thanks to biofermentation and then using the   hot water extraction method  , we offer Cordyceps mycelia extract with  an ideal ratio of active substances to obtain the best properties :

  • min 30% polysaccharides (actually 33-34%)
  • 12-18% D-mannitol (cordyceps acid)

About Cordyceps

Cordyceps sinensis  (Dongchonxiacao, Chinese cordyceps, Caterpillar mushroom, Ophiocordyceps sinensis) belongs to the  cordyceps species , which also includes Cordyceps militaris, Cordyceps liangshamensis, Cordyceps gunnii, etc. (almost 700 of their species have been discovered) - it is an edible ascomycete, a parasitic mushroom. It attaches to the surface of the insect larvae and then fills the entire field with its sclerotium, from which the mature form of the fungus develops. Cordyceps grows at altitudes above 3,500 meters above sea level, mainly in the mountains of Tibet and in the Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, etc.

This mushroom is collected from April to August. However, it practically does not occur in its natural state. In 25 years, its numbers have decreased by 90%, which of course increased its value on the market, which is why this fungus is found mainly in crops. The demand for  Cordyceps  is high mainly due to its impact on human health.

The power  of Cordyceps  has been used in traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicine for thousands of years. Some sources that describe how yak herders observed a big change when the animals consumed  Cordyceps . The animals were livelier, healthier and stronger. We can trace written records back to 620 AD. In the Western world,  Cordyceps  has been known only since 1726, when it was presented at a mycological conference in Paris. At the time, the Western world had no idea about the effects of  Cordyceps . This, of course, changed, mainly due to the fact that in 1964  Cordyceps  was officially registered as a herbal medicine in Chinese pharmacology.

The basis of our company MycoMedica is based on strong pillars, which are:

QUALITY - SAFETY - EFFECTIVENESS

Emphasis on the environment

Most of our mushroom raw materials come from China. The ecological environment is not a priority for modern China. It is therefore difficult, but at the same time necessary, to find crops of medicinal mushrooms from completely pure and industrially untouched nature. MycoMedica mainly uses mushrooms grown in Fujian, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces, areas that are virtually untouched by civilization.   Pesticides, heavy metals, microorganisms, molds and radioactive elements are factors against which mushroom raw materials must be unconditionally protected.

Testing at Agrolab

All mushroom raw materials used to produce our mushroom products are tested before processing in the  German independent Agrolab laboratory  for the presence of over 500 heavy metal contaminants, pesticides and microorganisms dangerous to humans.  We can provide these tests upon request.

We have expanded the classic tests performed by the German Agrolab to include testing for  polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons  (PAH), which have carcinogenic effects, may affect fetal development and are associated with cardiovascular diseases. More here.

The final stage of production of our products takes place under the most rigorous hygienic conditions in the Czech Republic. We apply ISO 9001/2009 production standards, have the  HACCP certificate  and have implemented the  IFS quality system.

How to choose a really high-quality medicinal mushroom product?

Powder or extract?

If we want to use as many active substances from mushrooms as possible, we must process them in such a way as to damage the chitin coating of the mushroom.  Humans do not have the necessary enzymes needed to digest chitin , so during digestion they cannot release the active substances from the fungal cell walls and obtain them.

Processing options:

a) decoctions

You can make a decoction from dried mushrooms. However, this traditional method requires large amounts of mushrooms to achieve therapeutic effects.

b)  mushroom powder or biomass

Dried mushrooms are ground into a very fine powder. The chitin cover is partially damaged and our body is able to use the active substances.

c)  extrakty

Thanks to gentle extraction with hot water, we can break the chitin barrier and extract  the maximum amount of active substances from the mushrooms.  In most mushroom cases, additional precipitation with ethyl alcohol (double extraction) is carried out at the end of this process, because some active substances are insoluble in water.

Extraction is the most optimal  way to process mushrooms for medical purposes. That's why the vast majority of medical research is conducted on extracts, not powdered mushrooms.

The main, but not the only, active substances of medicinal mushrooms are  polysaccharides  (mainly β-(1, 3)-D-glucans). While mushroom powder contains approximately 0.5-3% polysaccharides, our extracts contain  30% .

An important argument in favor of MycoMedica mushrooms is that many doctors and Chinese medicine therapists who have the greatest experience work with our products. More here.

We also use MycoMedica products in our office, so every day we receive information from patients about their effectiveness.

What should you pay attention to when choosing?

Some companies use regular starch in breeding to obtain a higher polysaccharide content. A regular laboratory is unable to detect it and such raw material has minimal therapeutic effects.  Together with German colleagues, we test all mushroom raw material to ensure that it contains only high-quality mushroom polysaccharides.

Some companies from China, in order to achieve microbiological purity of the extracts, expose the mushrooms to radiation, which destroys microorganisms. We emphasize that  MycoMedica products are not irradiated  at any stage of production.

Proven raw materials

Some Chinese manufacturers do not respect traditional production processes. For example, drying mushrooms must be done outdoors, and if possible, in the sun. Therefore, it is important for us to cooperate only with proven breeders and processors of mushroom raw materials. We do not use any untested raw materials in our products.

We take our slogan   QUALITY - SAFETY - EFFECTIVENESS  seriously. Thanks to this, we gradually became the most important Eastern European producer of medicinal mushroom products.
