Astaxanthin is considered one of the strongest antioxidants. Its antioxidant properties are 6,000 times stronger than vitamin C. Its strong antioxidant properties are due to the unique structure of the molecule, composed of as many as 13 conjugated double bonds and ketone groups. Due to having both hydrophilic and hydrophobic areas, the astaxanthin molecule easily crosses the bilayer of the cell membrane and effectively protects cells against oxidative stress.

What is NatAxtin™?
NatAxtin ™ is a natural oleoresin containing 10% astaxanthin, the result of intensive research and investment in the construction and development of algae farms located in the South American Atacama Desert, where Haematococcus pluvialis algae, a source of natural astaxanthin, are grown. The result of these activities is a proprietary technology of cultivation in closed and open photobioreactors, based on a high level of cleanliness and asepsis. The location of the farms, away from agricultural and populated areas, guarantees safe cultivation of algae, free from any contamination.
What is the cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis algae?
Crystal clear water from the Andes mountain range is used to prepare the growing medium, subjected to a careful sterilization process, and non-genetically modified Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae are inoculated on sterile culture medium, in closed photobioreactors, where the algae are grown in the first stage of growth. By taking such precautions in the first phase of algae development, the risk of crop contamination with microorganisms is reduced to a minimum, while ensuring the highest quality final product - NatAxtin™ astaxanthin .
The final stage of cultivation takes place in open ponds, where Haematococcus pluvialis algae grow in a way that imitates their natural environment.
What does NatAxtin™ astaxanthin extraction look like?
The collected microalgae are ground and vacuum-dried at low temperature, retaining their original properties, resulting in a powder with very high bioavailability. The obtained powder is subjected to supercritical CO2 extraction, resulting in ultra-pure NatAxtin™ oleoresin containing 10% astaxanthin, free from residues of harmful solvents. The process is carried out in accordance with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard.
Astaxanthin – natural vs synthetic
It is estimated that approximately 95% of astaxanthin available on the market is artificial astaxanthin, obtained by chemical synthesis.1) The reason is the much lower cost of chemical synthesis of this compound compared to obtaining it from natural sources, such as the cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis algae.
Although synthetic astaxanthin has the same chemical formula as natural astaxanthin, the two forms differ significantly. Natural astaxanthin, extracted from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, contains not only astaxanthin, but also a whole complex of substances that are part of algae and ensure their survival. This complex consists of approximately 85% of astaxanthin, but it also includes other valuable compounds such as lutein, β-carotene and canthaxanthin. The co-existing substances work synergistically to enhance the effects of astaxanthin, making natural astaxanthin a much more effective antioxidant than synthetic astaxanthin. The presence of astaxanthin in its natural matrix also improves its stability compared to its synthetic counterpart.
It is also worth mentioning that despite technological purification processes, synthetic astaxanthin may contain residues from the synthesis in the form of harmful chemical compounds.
Our product contains only natural Nat-Axtin™ astaxanthin derived from Haematococcus pluvialis algae, free from this type of contamination and characterized by the highest biological activity.
