Niacinamide  - is vitamin B3 in the form of nicotinamide. It is essential for many life processes, including energy production, the synthesis of certain hormones and DNA, the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, cholesterol and proteins, as well as the growth of body tissues.

It can be, unlike other B vitamins, produced in the body from the basic amino acid, tryptophan. However, these are small amounts and its most important source should be food.

It should also be remembered that tryptophan is an exogenous amino acid, i.e. one that cannot be synthesized in the body but must be supplied in food.

In supplementation, niacin occurs in three forms, i.e. as: nicotinic acid, nicotinic acid amide and inositol hexanicotinate.

The absorption of vitamin B3 is improved by: B vitamins, vitamin C, phosphorus and chromium.

Vitamin B3:

  • contributes to maintaining proper energy metabolism
  • helps in the proper functioning of the nervous system
  • helps maintain proper psychological functions
  • helps maintain the proper condition of the mucous membranes
  • helps maintain healthy skin
  • helps reduce the feeling of fatigue and weariness
