An innovative combination of Vitamin K and Vitamin D plays an important role in building and maintaining strong bones.

Vitamin K in the patented form  Vita MK7 ®  is one of the few sources of 100% natural vitamin K, very easily absorbable, tested and with documented effects approved by EFSA (European Food Agency)

Vitamin D:

  • helps in the proper functioning of the immune system.
  • helps in the proper absorption/use of calcium and phosphorus.
  • contributes to the proper level of calcium in the blood.
  • helps maintain healthy teeth.
  • helps in the proper functioning of muscles.
  • helps maintain healthy bones.

Vitamin D comes from lanolin, which is used to obtain 7-Dehydrocholesterol - an organic derivative of cholesterol.

7-Dehydrocholesterol is a starting compound for the production of cholecalciferol. As a result of production processes, vitamin D is obtained in a similar way to humans - i.e. through exposure of the skin to the sun.

There are only 4 companies in the world producing natural vitamin K2. Two companies produce it using Bacillus subtilis natto bacteria. The other two using a different strain of Bacillus licheniformis. All other forms are synthetic forms with unproven effects and negligible absorption. In the European Union , forms of vitamin K obtained by extraction with hexane, a harmful chemical substance, are allowed on the market under the principle of substantial equivalence 1

VitaMK7 ® is obtained by fermentation of Bacillus Subtillis Natto2 and using chemically neutral CO-23. Menaquinone-7, which is a natural source of Vitamin K, the Aliness brand comes from the only European manufacturer, GNOSIS, declares that VitaMK7 ® is a GMO-free product4

More about vitamin K

Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone) are the two most important forms of vitamin K discovered in food. Vitamin K1 can be found in green leafy vegetables , spinach, broccoli, etc. Vitamin K contributes to proper blood clotting.

Vitamin K2 is found in high concentration in natto - a traditional Japanese dish, and is much better absorbed by the body than vitamin K1. Finally, vitamin K2 has no connection with soy, because vitamin K2 is obtained in a laboratory using the Bacillus subtilis natto bacteria, i.e. the bacteria found in the dish called natto.

There is information on the market that vitamin K2 in supplements comes from soy - i.e. from a Japanese dish called "Natto" - this is false information, indicating the lack of knowledge of the companies selling and often even producing vitamin K2.

Vitamin K2 approved for use in dietary supplements comes from bacterial biofermentation. Most often, two strains of bacteria are used : Bacillus subtilis natto and the less popular and untested Bacillus licheniformis (no scientific publications).

Vitamin K is initially transported to the liver and then to the bones and arterial walls, where it can accumulate due to its improved bioavailability and longer half-life, thus playing an important role in maintaining strong bones.

Vitamin K in the patented form of VitaMK7® is a natural source of vitamin K obtained from natto, very easily absorbable, tested and with documented effects approved by EFSA (European Food Agency)

Vita MK7 ®  does not contain:

  • allergens
  • soy and its derivatives
  • genetically modified GMO ingredients
  • gluten
  • lactose
  • pesticides and toxins

What is the difference between Vitamin K MK-4 and Vitamin K MK-7?

Vitamin K2 contains several subtypes generally designated as menaquinone-N (MK-N), where "N" is the number of isoprenyl aluminum groups. Typically, synthetic MK-4 is used for pharmaceutical purposes (with high dose required: 45 mg/day). Vitamin K MK-4 has lower bioavailability, bioactivity and serum half-life than MK-7. Vitamin K as menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is the most bioavailable and bioactive form of vitamin K.

Gnosis has submitted an application to the FDA for approval as a reference menaquinone for Vita MK7 ® in the American Pharmacopoeia. A particular advantage taken into account by the FDA is the fact that no solvents are used in the production process of Vita MK7 ® .

Vita MK7 ®  can be used by children

In the biofermentation process, an important production stage is the process of purifying the finished product from all unnecessary compounds, including bacterial residues. Some companies use chemical processes , e.g. hexanes, which, under American law, eliminates them from being called a "100% natural product", but they can still use the phrase "natural product". Others, such as Vitamin K2 Aliness in the form of VitaMk7, are a "100% natural product", i.e. the cleansing process is a safe and non-chemical process, it is carried out using carbon dioxide. Purification using Co2 is a natural, safe process that achieves very high purity - up to 99%. According to the manufacturer's declaration, vitamin K2 Vita MK7 ® meets this criterion worldwide

What are the contraindications of vitamin K supplementation and what is the safe dose?

Vitamin K2 is a very safe form and has no known toxic effects. According to the Orientation paper, EVM provides a guideline level (GL) of 1000 ug, regardless of the supply of vitamin K from a normal diet. Vitamin K2 is not accumulated in significant amounts in the liver. When it comes to dosage, all studies are based on dosing from 100µg to 500µg per day.

No toxic effects were found after taking large doses of vitamin K2. This proves that it is very safe, as long as we get it from high-quality and safe dietary supplements.
