MecobalActive - active form of vitamin B12

MecobalActive is methylcobalamin, the active form of vitamin B12 [1]. Ferrer HealthTech produces MecobalActive at its production facility in Spain using its patented manufacturing process WO 2006/10059.

Cobalamin - vitamin B12

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) states that vitamin B12 belongs to crinoids, a group of compounds containing cobalt. These are active compounds also called cobalamin.

In practice, the term vitamin B12 refers to a compound called cyanocobalamin. This is a misnomer because cyanocobalamin does not occur naturally. It is a synthetic compound added to supplements, pharmaceuticals and food. Cobalamin occurs naturally in products of animal origin, in the form of methylcobalamin [2].

The human body does not synthesize cobalamin, so it must be taken in the diet. Cobalamin occurs naturally, among others: in mammalian meat, in the form of methylcobalamin and is the active form of vitamin B12.

The body's ability to absorb cobalamin decreases significantly with age. Additionally, vegetarians are deficient in cobalamin because the only source of cobalamin is food of animal origin. MecobalActive is an active form of vitamin B12, which perfectly prevents and supplements its deficiencies in the body.
